Second and last week at the Brussels Summer Festival. The Place des Musées was packed ! I missed Hocus Pocus and Craig Walker (ex-singer of Archive) but here are photos of Nouvelle Vague, Gush, Freaky Age, My Little Cheap Dictaphone and Skip the Use.

Highlights : Phoebe Killdeer was on stage for Nouvelle Vague, a dream came true + Gush

Down : My Little Cheap Dictaphone was boring and cliché (but give them a chance)

[BRUSSELS SUMMER FESTIVAL] Part I

After 5 days of festival (out of 9), here are some shots of what happened in Brussels. I did not attend all the shows and the highlight of this first “week” was sunday night. micky green, caravan palace and gotan project played on the main stage and we stayed under the rain for 4 hours. i don’t have a cold yet and my gear is more or less safe now (see what i look like when i shoot under the rain). my first and only rain experience was in seattle, september 2009 but i have to say that brussels just won. plus, the festival does not have a press room…

So here are some shots. More to come after the end of the Festival… I am looking forward to take photos of Nouvelle Vague again. I remember that I had so much fun in Vancouver, February 2010. Also we no longer have to shoot bands on the Main stage and I am happy about stage… It was twice my size… (drawing later).

[BOOK COVER] Michel Del Castillo – Mamita

I am happy to show you “my” first book cover :) It’s for Michel Del Castillo new book, untitled Mamita (August 2010).

Here is the story :

Tout, dans cette existence tissée de mensonges et de parjures, inspirait de l’épouvante. Il y avait chez cette femme qu’on pouvait croire folle une dureté, une vigilance stupéfiantes. Alors qu’elle semblait céder à ses impulsions, elle calculait froidement. Il faisait ainsi partie d’une algèbre criminelle. »
Pianiste virtuose, Xavier s’installe à Redwoods, sa maison du Vermont, pour préparer l’enregistrement de l’œuvre de Chopin, intimement liée à son existence. Au gré de ses déplacements entre New York, le studio de Boston et les paysages américains, il fait deux rencontres essentielles, Sarah et le jeune Tim, admirateur fervent. Chacune le renvoie à son enfance dénaturée.
Par cercles concentriques de plus en plus étroits, il s’enfonce jusqu’au trou noir de la mémoire – le désamour et la trahison de son énigmatique Mamita.

[PAMELA HUTE] Backstage & Live

i am back from vancouver, canada. it’s my first pamela hute show in ages. i am spending some hours with the band : soundcheck, backstage, live… they play at the festival indetendances in paris (hotel de ville). it’s sunny and crowded. they play new songs, they offer a new show.

[SOMEWHERE] Sofia Coppola

no i am not working with sofia coppola. but i just saw the trailer of her new movie and i have something to say ! so i am turning my website into a blog for a short post.

i admire sofia coppola’s work. the trilogy virgin suicides/lost in translation/marie antoinette is great : for the choices that she made, the photography, soundtracks… her work is inspiring.

french people hates her adaptation of marie antoinette, i love it. she doesn’t show us what we want to see, what we expect the most. we have to thank her for that. lost in translation is probably my favourite movie, because it’s about the city, the empty…

so here is the trailer of somewhere, sofia coppola’s new movie. right now i feel like this movie could be the #4 of the serie. characters are stuck in a close place, indoor (home/hotel). stuck in the role they have to play, the meaning of their life. the family relationship. and once again, the photography looks amazing (more virgin suicides/marie antoinette). so do the mattress shots.

OPENING

The opening of Journey was on June 3rd in Vancouver. Merci for the collective hug you gave me. It was like peanut/almond butter and maple syrup on a pancake (or cheese on bread). Merci for the feedbacks and questions and your interest in 1/ my blue shoes 2/ my canon dial 35 3/aged films 4/ half frame photography 5/ french language (in no specific order). [JOURNEY] VANCOUVER SHOW

hey friends
my 20 photos of the photoshow JOURNEY are ready and waiting for you at the Centre Culturel Francophone in Vancouver. From May 31st to July 17th. The Centre is opened every day until 9 pm (except sundays and holidays). it’s free.

i’ll post more after the opening and i’ll explain you the story of the poster. from beta version to final version.

[BRUSSELS] welcome back

beginning of may, i jumped in a train to spend 2 days and 3 nights in brussels. nothing much to say about it. except that it was my first time shooting again with the nikon fe since november 2009. the nikon fe was my first camera and will always be my fav one. so about brussels, i have some photos for you. the scans are dusty and the white sky is actually a grey cloudy sky. you will probably miss some details in the photo, such as writings/words on the walls.

i did not buy any vinyls but had 2 x 0,5 waffles and brussels could be my new home after vancouver.

[BALLROOM ENEA+] the photos

from april 15th to may 9th, 10 photos were on the walls of gals rock, an indie store in paris. it was a tiny, cute, small thing showing only 10 photos taken in one night.

as i wrote before, barbieturix asked me to take photos at the last parisian show of the festival les femmes s’en melent and at the after show at la machine. tender forever, duchess says, dance yourself to death, men performed that night.

all the photos are the result of the diana f+ / flash / 400 asa.
photos are for sale. 20×20cm. not signed but with stamped date, name of the exhibition, my name.

ballroom enea+ is a weird title for a poetic meaning. find it.
